The Folk Machine Pinot Noir, Central Coast '23

Kenny Likitprakong and his wife, Lynn, started Hobo Wine Company in 2002 by producing just two barrels of Dry Creek Zinfandel. Today they make a range of wines from across Northern California, the majority of which are produced from organic and sustainably farmed vineyards, and all are consistently great in terms of both quality and value. Folk Machine is a project of Hobo Wine Company and was created in 2005 as a home for Pinot Noir, but is now also the mainly dedicated to the producer’s more esoteric line of wines. The goal is to make wines that are balanced, have a sense of place and time, and, above all else, are delicious.

The 2023 Central Coast Pinot Noir is made from fruit harvested from two vineyards in Arroyo Seco, Mission Ranch and Cedar Lane, as well as a small amount from the Vecino vineyard, in Potter Valley. The grapes were fully destemmed, but not crushed, leaving whole berries in the fermentation. The wine rested on the lees with occasional bâtonnage to round out the mouthfeel, and was aged in two- to six-year-old French oak barrels.

A bright, light expression of pinot noir, showing notes of strawberry, bright cherry, mint, and anise. So easy and refreshing on the palate, it can easily be enjoyed on its own or paired this with almost any food.
