    Sarris Robola of Kefalonia '23

Kefalonia lies off the west coast of Greece, in the Ionian Sea, and is best known for its native grape variety Robola. Here, on his home island, Panos Sarris established a winery in 2016, near the Avithos beach, in the village of Svoronata- Kefalonia. He focuses on indigenous varieties, using wild fermentations to show the distinctive Ionian terroir. The winery started with a small vineyard and a few barrels of wine, and it has become one of the most respected wineries in Kefalonia, producing a range of red, white, and rosé wines, all made with locally grown grapes and traditional winemaking techniques. The winery uses sustainable practices in its vineyards and winemaking process, and it only produces wines in small batches to ensure a high level of quality.

The Sarris Robola of Kefalonia is made from 100% Robola that is harvested from dry-farmed vines ranging in age from 25 to 45 years old, grown at 500 to 700 meters in altitude. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, and the wine is aged for six months in stainless steel.

The wine shows fresh aromas of lime, green apple, pear, lemon peel, and lemongrass, with a salty, flinty minerality. Medium in body, with refreshing, bright acidity. Pair this wine with a range of seafood dishes, such as grilled octopus or fried cod in butter with garlic mashed potatoes, or dishes featuring fresh cheeses such as feta and kefalotyri. One of our favorite warm weather white wines.
