Quinta da Muradella, based in the Monterrei appellation of southern Galicia, is a winery that resonates with authenticity and commitment to crafting exceptional wines. Helmed by the visionary winemaker José Luis Mateo, this estate has gained acclaim for producing wines that eloquently express the distinct terroir of the region.
With the "Alanda" label, José Luis produces both a white and red. He describes these as his "village level" wines. A step up from "Candea," with all fruit coming from his own vineyards.
Alanda Blanco is a blend of Treixadura, Doña Blanco, Blanco Lexitimo, and Verdello grown in primarily sandy slate, but also with granite and limestone. All the varieties are vinified separately in stainless steel, and then blended and aged in a combination of stainless steel and 1500-Liter used barrels.
Like a great Premier Cru White Burgundy, this has amazing texture, and interplay between citrus fruit, mineral and flowers. This is already delicious but will continue to improve in bottle over the next handful of years.
