Palenqueros is a project created as a range of Mezcal to showcase the producers and distillers of single palenques as the protagonist of production. Each Palenques adheres to specific protocol to preserve the vitality of the agave and terroir, essentially creating a relatively small preservation society for estate driven Mezcal producers.
From Baltazar Cruz is his Mezcal from the village of San Luis del Río, in Tlacolula, Oaxaca. Cruz blends the cultivated agave species, Espadin and Sierra Negra. The Mezcal is still proof. Enjoy this on the rocks, to help soften and open up this bottling. Cruz's Mezcal has a smoky edge, with a linear palate. For being the first in his family to produce Mezcal, this has all the right feels that you would expect from artesanal Mezcal.
