P.S. Garcia "Bravado" Red Blend '19

    Itata Valley

P.S. Garcia "Bravado" Red Blend '19

Felipe Garcia began working with wine in 1999, working harvests in Chile, Mendoza, and California before starting his own project, P.S. Garcia, in 2006. In 2009, with a group of like-minded small producers in Chile, he decided to start an official group to strengthen their voices: MOVI (Movement of Independent Vintners). In 2010, he founded Chile’s other most impactful small producer movement to date, VIGNO (Vignadores de Carignan). VIGNO is considered Chile’s first official Denominacion de Origen as it champions and preserves the incredible quality of old vine Carignan specifically from the dry-farmed coastal secando of Maule. Itata, one of three area’s of Maule Valley, is Chile’s oldest winemaking region.

“Bravado” is a blend of 40% Syrah, 36% Carignan, 14% Grenache, 1% Mourvedre, and 9% Petit Verdot. The fruit is from vines averaging 120 years in age, from two vineyards, Piedra Lisa and Bellavista, both in Itata Valley. The wine is aged for 18 months in neutral French oak.

This wine’s tannins hold a cornucopia of spice, from cumin and coriander to the bitter crush of flower petals. The flavors evolve in the glass toward ruby grapefruit and roasted tomato, adding layers of freshness amid all the spice. Try it with a flavorful dishes such as barbecue pork or a spicy tagine.
