Nicolucci Vino Bianco da Uve Stramature "Passolo" '19 (500ml)
Alessandro Nicolucci is the fourth-generation winemaker at the family-run farm, located specifically in Predappio Alta. The family has been estate bottling since 1885, although the history of wine in this area dates back to around 1000 B.C. The history is on full display in the old historic cellar, at the base of the local castle.
Romagna is know for two main varieties, Sangiovese for red, and Albana for white. Albana is often seen in various forms in Romagna, from light crisp whites, full-bodied orange wines, and most notably for dessert wines.
This special limited production wine from Alessandro is made from a careful selection of Albana grapes. These grapes were left to dry out on racks for about two months and then fermented and refined in small oak barrels. Thick gold yellow colour tending to amber, with persistent aromas of dried fruits and nuts, figs, apricots; on the palate it is ample and full, with slight bitter after taste.
This is a great dessert wine to pair with cakes, pastries, and custards.
