Bàrbara Mesquida Mora’s namesake winery was established in 2012. The winery is located near the town of Porreres, in the southeastern part of the island of the Plá I Llevant region. After leaving behind the winery created by her great grandfather in 1945, Bàrbara began her own project from scratch with vineyards inherited from her mother.
Bàrbara is using natural low-intervention, polyculture farming practices. She has hundreds of fruit trees planted amongst the vineyards, all of which are certified by the Balearic Ecological Agriculture Council and Demeter for organic and biodynamic viticulture. All the grapes are hand-picked and then fermented with their indigenous yeasts. The wines are produced with low-intervention, sulfur levels that are kept to a minimum during production, with none added at bottling.
“Sincronia” Negre is a love letter to the rich montage of Mallorca’s diversity of grape varieties. The wine is a blend of Callet, Merlot, Gorgollassa, Syrah, Mantonegro, Monastrell, and Pinot Noir, and each of the varieties undergoes a separate fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then blended and racked into two- and three-year-old French and American oak barrels for six months of aging. The wine combines both freshness and power, with Mediterranean garrigue aromatics and a core of mouth-watering crunchy red fruit. It is a warm introduction to the soul and spirit of Mallorca. Excellent paired with anything grilled. And an outstanding value!
