Maquis "Revela" Cabernet Franc '23

Viña Maquis is one of the historic estates of Colchagua, with roots that stretch back to the early 20th century. Still family-owned and guided by the Hurtado family, the estate is defined by a singular vineyard site: a natural island formed by the Tinguiririca River and the Chimbarongo Creek. This rare geography creates a cooler, more temperate mesoclimate than much of the surrounding valley, allowing for longer hang time and wines of natural balance and clarity.

Colchagua has earned its reputation as one of Chile’s great red wine regions, but Maquis stands apart for its emphasis on freshness, precision, and site expression rather than sheer power. While Carménère is the most noted varietal in Chile, Cabernet Franc thrives here, and Maquis does an excellent job with the varietal.

The 2023 Revela Cabernet Franc is a poised, expressive example of the grape. Ripe yet restrained, it offers notes of black and red fruit, mint, cocoa powder and spice notes. The body has richness with soft tannins and a savory edge that makes it especially food-friendly.

At the table, it pairs effortlessly with grilled lamb, herb-roasted chicken, or mushroom-driven dishes. An elegant, quietly confident Cabernet Franc from one of Colchagua’s most distinctive vineyard sites.
