    Leth “Klassik” Roter Veltliner '21

Leth was established in the area of the Wagram region north of the Danube River in the 1960s and has been run by three generations of the same family. The winery is a member of the Traditionsweinguter Osterreich (the association of traditional wineries in Austria) and aims to reflect the characteristics of its region, including its soils, climate, and grape varieties, in the wines it produces. The Wagram region of Austria has Europe’s most extensive loess soil formations (agglomerated clay, sand and lime), and, in these layers, vine roots grow deeply, absorbing water and nutrients from the mineral-rich subsoils. Leth has practiced organic viticulture for decades and attained organic certification in 2021.

The fruit for the Leth “Klassik” Roter Veltliner comes from vineyards of loess terraces along the hillsides in Fels and Gösing am Wagram. The fruit was harvested by hand and whole-bunch pressed, with no skin contact. The wine was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged on the fine lees for two months.
