    La Cigarrera Manzanilla (375ml)

    Right in the heart of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, is Bodegas La Cigarrera. La Cigarrera has been an important  "almacenista" since 1758, until cellar master Ignacio Hidalgo started bottling his own Manzanilla Sherry in 1997. Ignacio is a ninth-generation cellar master, whose family’s wines were previously sold to famous Sherry houses, including Lustau, for bottling. La Cigarrera refers to the cigarette/tobacco women who used to sell on the sidewalks of Sanlúcar. Manzanilla is a style of Fino Sherry from the town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and can only be Manzanilla if from there specifically. The unique climate of this town enables a very special flor to grow year-round and create an especially delicate Sherry reminiscent of the ocean, due to its close proximity.  Flor will take on qualities dependent on its location.  The wine ages for four years via the Solera method. The wine showcases briny notes alongside ripe, crisp yellow apples, with a touch of richness on the palate.  This should be served slightly chilled, and consumed within a week of opening it. While many like a sip of Sherry on its own, the wine is really made to drink alongside of food. It works with so many different bites, from olives and almonds, to meats and fried seafood. Its versatility is part of what makes it so special.
