Alsace
As with any wine, the producer and the quality of the farming practices are incredibly important. The Kientzler family has been growing vines for more than five generations in Ribeauvillé and the surrounding area. Domaine Kientzler has earned every accolade it has been awarded, and it is regarded within France as one of the leading domains of Alsace.
Today, the Kientzlers farm almost 14 hectares of vines in Ribeauvillé, Bergheim, Hunawihr, and Riquewihr, including significant parcels in the grand crus of Geisberg, Osterberg and Kirchberg. But quantities are so limited that very little of its production enters export markets, or to reviewers outside France. Simply put, these wines sell out at the domain each year at very reasonable prices with little fanfare, which is why we are all the more excited to have them. This crémant is made from 100% Auxerrois, and more than 40% of the grapes were harvested from Grand Cru Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé. Élevage includes 50 months on the lees.
A beautiful, light, crisp, dry and complex example of Cremant d'Alsace!
