Southern Rhône
Domaine de la Combe au Mas sits at the foot of Mont Ventoux, in the southern Rhône, and was established in 2019 by Thomas Ayoun et Marie-Sophie Jullien. The domaine comprises 10 hectares of vines, which are farmed organically to maintain the health of the soils and the biodiversity of the area. Vinifications are carried out as naturally as possible, without sulfur, and with indigenous yeasts.
“Rigaou,” which means “robin” in Provençal, is a blend of Grenache and Carignan grown on clay limestone soils. The aromas of this wine transport you to the south of France with notes of pastille, lavender, red fruit, and fresh cracked pepper. The freshness of Ventoux is on full display, as while this still is distinctly medium bodied, it is so well balanced. A great everyday bottle from southern France!
