David Reynaud Crozes Hermitage "Georges" '20

David Reynaud has named his Crozes-Hermitage "Georges" after his grandfather, who began the family estate in 1955. Under David's hands, the winery has become fully certified organic and biodynamic, and the wine rewards the patient vineyard management and a subsequent gentle aging in a combination of amphora, concrete eggs, and neutral oak with an elegant expression of Syrah: the fresh crunch of blackberries and a subtle violet perfume, with a saline, mineral finish. There's enough balance here to play off anything from grilled lamb to a mushroom risotto.
