Loire Valley
Château Soucherie, owned by the Béguinot family since 2007, comprises 22 hectares of vines, divided into three sites. It is surrounded by the villages of Rochefort-sur-Loire, Beaulieu-sur-Layon, and Saint Lambert du Lattay. Here, the soils are principally limestone, clay, and schist. Among the estate’s vines, Chenin represents the majority of the estate’s vines, and the farming practices have been certified organic since 2022. All the vineyard work is carried out manually.
This wine is made from 100% chenin blanc, sourced from the vineyard site Les Rangs de Long, on the northern part of the estate and with south-southeastern exposure. The soil is a mix of clay, sand, and limestone, with some schist. The wine is vinified to dryness in vats and aged on the fine lees for around nine months before being bottled.
The nose shows notes of golden apple, honeydew, peach, beeswax, and white flowers. Medium bodied and dry on the palate, with elevated acidity, this is a great match for shellfish, sushi, or a classic salade de chèvre.
