Penedès
Can Sumoi is a project of Pepe Raventós (of the Raventós i Blanc winery) and is focused on producing wines made from indigenous varieties. The estate is in the Serra de l’Home mountain range, in northeastern region of Penedès, and covers about 400 hectares, reaching over six hundred meters in elevation. It includes about thirty hectares of old-vine Montonega, Xarel-lo, Garnatxa (Blanco and Negre), and Sumoll vines, while forest land shades the rest of the property. The vines are cultivated on limestone soils and using certified organic practices.
This bottling is a blend of 50% Sumoll and 50% Garnatxa, sourced from 20- to 50-year-old vines on clay-limestone soils. The fruit is destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeast, with 15 days of maceration. The wine is matured for 12 months in tank.
On the nose, notes of red cherry, raspberry, and savory green herbs . A wonderfully fresh, food-friendly wine that is ideally served with a slight chill.
