Ca' del Baio "Red Label" Langhe Nebbiolo '24

Ca’ del Baio is a true family estate, led by sisters Paola, Valentina, and Federica, who have assumed responsibility for its daily operation with the guidance and support of their parents, Giulio and Luciana. Together, they oversee every aspect of the business, from vineyard work and winemaking to hospitality and sales, ensuring that the family’s accumulated knowledge and values continue to define the wines.

The family’s home and cantina are based in Treiso, with cru Barbaresco vineyards spread between Treiso, where they farm Valgrande and Marcarini, and Barbaresco itself, where they have holdings in Asili and Pora. Of the roughly 25 hectares farmed by the family, about 17 lie in Treiso, with the balance in Barbaresco. Annual production averages around 100,000 bottles, evenly divided between Nebbiolo, used for Barbaresco and Langhe Nebbiolo, and a mix of Dolcetto, Barbera, and Langhe whites. The vineyards are rooted in calcareous marl, with strikingly pale, lime rich soils that, in places, look almost dusted with snow.

The 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced from younger vines planted in 2007 and 2008 in Treiso and Barbaresco and is fermented entirely in stainless steel. It delivers all the hallmarks of Nebbiolo, including red berry aromas, structure, and grip, but in a brighter, more approachable, and juicier expression that invites earlier drinking.

At the table, it is a natural partner for tajarin with meat ragù, a classic pairing that brings out the wine’s savory depth and freshness.
