Burlotto Barolo "Cannubi" '19
The hill of Cannubi is at the center of the Barolo area, in the commune of Barolo, and is considered the most historical vineyard, the original “cru,” of the Barolo region. Burlotto’s Cannubi vineyard is in the area called Cannubi Valletta and covers 0.7 hectares (about 1.73 acres) and was replanted in 1988 with a massale selection of Nebbiolo. The bunches were destemmed, and fermentation was carried out in open French oak vats, with temperature control used during maceration. The wine was matured in large French oak barrels, with additional maturation for a period of 20–36 months (depending on the vintage). After bottling in the summer, without fining or filtering, the wine rested in the cellar for at least nine months before bottling.
"Fabio Alessandria's family purchased land in Cannubi in 1982, the same year they started production of the Barolo Monvigliero. The property measures 0.7 hectares. The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2019 Barolo Cannubi shows elegance and power with a lifted layer of fruity intensity that recalls dark cherry, cassis, iris root, violet, white licorice and crushed stone. Cannubi is known for elegance and the depth of its aromas, and this balanced vintage delivers on those fronts. 98 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate"
