Jim Arterberry Maresh is a third-generation grower in Dundee Hills, and he has caught the attention of critics and drinkers alike for his high-quality, complex Pinot Noir wines that are surprisingly affordable. Jim’s father, Fred Arterberry Jr., was among the early pioneers of winemaking the 1970s and produced many acclaimed wines from the Maresh Vineyard, which was previously a hilltop farm in the Red Hills of Dundee, purchased in 1959 by Loie and Jim Maresh. Fred’s winery label, Arterberry, closed when he died, in 1990. Jim was raised on his family’s farm in Dundee Hills and, with his deep knowledge of the area and the vineyards, as well as farming and winemaking, Jim founded his own winery, Arterberry Maresh, in 2005.
Jim is focused on producing wines with moderate alcohol levels and modest use of new oak, as well as no fining or filtering, to best express the terroir and the varietal character of the fruit. The 2022 Pinot Noir is made of fruit grown in the Maresh and Weber vineyards, in Dundee Hills.
