Vincent Wine Company is a Willamette Valley winery making natural red and white wines. Owner and winemaker Vincent Fritzsche launched the winery in 2009 after years of apprenticing in wineries in Oregon and California. Low-input winemaking is key at Vincent, shown through its work with several sustainably farmed vineyards around the Willamette Valley to produce small amounts of handmade wine without a lot of fuss.
Vincent’s “Red Table Wine” is a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir. This bottle expresses the characteristic brightness of each of the varieties, reflecting the qualities the grapes are often sought for—modest tannins, modest alcohol, and refreshing acidity. The wine undergoes a natural fermentation and is aged in neutral French oak barrels for about a year. Gamay Noir is a variety that typically shows best without the influence of new oak, which would mask its relatively delicate fruit and floral aromas. Light- to medium-bodied and refreshing, like many of the wines in this month’s club, it’s wonderfully versatile at the table. Try it with roasted chicken or roasted vegetables as well as soft cheeses, which are often too delicate for other red wines. Or simply chill it done a few degrees and enjoy on its own.
