Located in the Dão region, Textura is a family project created in 2018 by Marcelo Araujo. He is a Brazilian gentleman who, after leaving a successful career in the investment world, decided to pursue his desire to show the greatness of Dão wines, with a focus on Serra da Estrela, the tallest inland mountain. The project now encompasses 25 hectares of vineyards, and they are planted throughout the Dão, with special emphasis in Vila Nova de Tazem and Penalva do Castelo, which are iconic, historic spots for white and red wine, respectively.
Although Textura is a very recent project, there are numerous labels coming from the winery, ranging from the general Dão appellation to single-vineyard and varietal wines.
“Pura” is one of the top wines from Textura. Sourced from a single vineyard of 55-year-old in Vila Nova de Tazem, in the Serra da Estrela sub-region, elevated at 600 m of altitude, at granite soils, this red is a field blend of Dão Portuguese grape varieties - Jaen, Baga, Alfrocheiro, Tinto-Cão and Tinta Pinheira.
This beautiful red was fermented naturally, only in seasoned French oak vats, with 40% whole bunch followed by 30 days cuvaison. It has aged for 16 months in seasoned frenck oak foudre and 225L barrels. Naturally stabilized.
It is a very distinct wine with delicate aromas of red cherry, gooseberry, a touch of spicy and forest. On the palate, nice acidity, dry, very refined and pure tannins, great texture, with riches of fruit and herbs. Complexity with a long finish.
