The Mayor of the Marche is back!
Alberto Taddei of Selvagrossa has become our version of a wine mascot.
Alberto and his brother Alessandro, run a small family operation located on the outskirts of the village of Pesaro. Alberto has worked throughout Italy and even in New York as a sommelier. He returned home to the family business, and the wines have continued to get better year in and year out. In fact, we strongly feel that the wines being produced at Selvagrossa today are amongst the very best of the region.
If there was a flagship wine from Selvagrossa, that wine would be "Trimpilin." This is predominantly Sangiovese, from vines planted by Alberto and Alessandro's grandfather. They are over fifty years in age, and as such are deeply rooted, providing grapes of great concentration and complexity.
In our opinion, this is what you want from Sangiovese, wonderfully elegant fruit, balances with freshness, ample texture and a long, complex finish. If only you too could taste this with Mama's cooking. Get in the kitchen this is an excellent food wine.
Only 3000 bottles produced.
