From the winemaking team of Jim Duane and Philippe Melka, this bottle is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot. Made in 100% French Oak (43% new). Seavey is located in Conn Valley, which is across Lake Hennessey from Pritchard Hill, and reaches up the easternmost slopes of Howell Mountain. Production from the estate’s 40 planted acres is approximately 3,000 cases annually, and this small-scale production allows Seavey to maintain consistently high standards in both the vineyard and the winery. They have never bought a grape, and they farm their land with their in-house crew. The steep, rocky hillsides produce small, thick-skinned berries with outstanding tannins.
“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Caravina is one of the most distinctive Napa Valley wines in its price range, or any price range, for that matter. Pliant, deep and expressive, with superb fruit density, the Caravina punches well above its weight. Mineral and savory notes add shades of nuance to a core of resonant dark red cherry fruit. All the elements are impeccably balanced.” Antonio Galloni (Dec. 2018) – 93 points
