Wine and Soul "Pintas Character" Tinto Douro '21

Wine and Soul was established in 2001 by the winemaking couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, with a focus on old vineyards in the Douro Valley. “Pintas Character” was produced from vineyards planted with 30-plus grape varieties, with Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca dominating. The grapes were fermented in granite lagares, with foot-reading for 10 days. Élevage and malolactic fermentation were carried out in French oak barrels (mosty new, with only 10% of the barriques used) for 18 months. Black cherry, plum, wild berries, cassis, anise, and baking spices define the nose, while the palate is full bodied, with grainy tannins.
