This is the flagship wine of Quinta do Mouro. Primarily a blend of Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet, found in schist-rich soils. Grapes are foot trodden, fermented in tank and then aged for 14 months in 300L French and Portuguese oak barrel, 50% new. This is a full bodied wine, rich in color, intense and deep on the palate. Full bodied, with good structure and excellent balance and, above all, great freshness, which is hardly found in the Alentejo region. The acidity gives an unusual freshness in a warm climate region, also creating an elongated finish.
If drinking now, decant for an hour before serving. Great with grilled meats, in particular lamb chops. This will evolve nicely over time, drinking now through 2028.
