Producer Profiles: Cortes de Cima, Moreish, Domino do Açor

Our producer profile series is back, and this time it is the perfect opportunity to introduce you to three incredible Portuguese wineries!

Cortes de Cima is a historic winery based in the Alentejo region of Portugal. While the wines of Cortes de Cima were always good, things have completely changed at the winery with the new generation taking over. Winemaker Anna Jørgensen took over in 2000, and changed and elevated every part of the process, from working as a regenerative farm, one that works with biodynamic principles, working with Marco Simonit, a pruning expert, and working in a low intervention way. These wines are the most compelling made in the Alentejo region today.

Our two other featured wineries have a connection. Luís Lopes is one of Portugal's most talented enologist. Moreish is his label, working with grapes from different properties that he consults with in both Portugal and Spain. The project has allowed him to really use his talent to explore different styles. The wines are fantastic, and I'm the first to launch them in the United States.

Domínio do Açor is the Dão region's most exciting new producer. It's a partnership with a group of friends from Brazil: Luís is the enologist, and Brazil sommelier Guilherme Corrêa is in charge of the operations. I recently visited the property and can say that big things are coming from this great producer.
