Mezcalero Special Bottling No. 5 is distilled in Durango by mezcalero Don Rubén Solis Lozano from wild cenizo (Agave durangensis). The agaves were harvested in thin rocky soil at high altitude, mesquite-roasted in an underground stone oven, crushed by hand, and then fermented in a wood-covered underground pit using wild yeasts. Finally it was double distilled in a 300-liter copper potstill with a wooden cap and dual condensers. This mezcal was bottled in August of 2019.
