Champagne
Dominque Moreau, owner and winemaker of Marie-Courtin (named after her grandmother), is one of the most talented as well as one of the nicest producers in Champagne. With the 2005 vintage, Dominique began producing a series of single-vineyard, single-variety, single-vintage, zero-dosage Champagnes from biodynamically grown grape. Her minuscule vineyard holdings encompass roughly 2.5 hectares, allowing her to produce around 16,000 bottles annually.
She has been one of the leaders in the movement for organic viticulture in Champagne, beginning the process to organic conversion in 2006 and achieving certification in 2010.
Harvested from massal selection Pinot Noir vines 35-40 years in age from a single parcel located in Polisot, from the bottom of the hill where there is more clay. Fermented in used barriques using natural yeasts (for both fermentations), aged on the lees for three years, and bottled with zero dosage. This is an outstanding Champagne, probably the Champagne to choose if you want to learn about the producer.
You can drink this now, but it will age gracefully over the next decade.
