Le Pianelle "Croá" Coste della Sesia Rosso '14

Le Pianelle "Croá" Coste della Sesia Rosso '14

This ultra-rare bottling from Le Pianelle is made from 100% Croatina grown in the Alto Piemonte region of Italy, in historic vineyards located in the Villa del Bosco municipality in Bramaterra. The average vine age is 80 years, and the vines are Guyot and maggiorina trained (maggiorina is an old trellis system specific to the region). Made by Dieter Heuskel and Peter Dipoli, it shows off the rusticity and sheer pleasure of the variety.

The Croatina grapes are destemmed. Traditional fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks without added yeast. The juice macerates with the skins for 24 days. It is then transferred to mature in used barriques for 18 months. It was bottled in September 2016 and left to rest in bottle until release in 2021.

Pale in color but packed with flowers, red fruit, and soft, dusty tannins. A super cool wine!
