Julien Brocard Chablis "Vigne de la Boissonneuse" '20

Julien Brocard Chablis "Vigne de la Boissonneuse" '20

Every parent hopes that their children are successful in something they love. In the wine business, many children take over from their parents, and sometimes they go on to establish their own estate. In this process, the child can sometimes eclipse the quality and reputation of their parent.

Such is the case in Chablis with the Brocard family, a well known name in the region. The Jean-Marc Brocard domaine is a sizable estate by Chablis standards. In 2012, his son Julien launched his own line of Chablis under his name. Key to the success of the wines is Julien's steadfast dedication to organic and biodynamic farming, of which he is Demeter certified.

Julien farms about 18 hectares, making several cuvée's from different vineyard sites. This wine "Vigne de la Boissonneuse" was the foundational wine of the estate, a single vineyard of 11 hectares, the vines located just outside the village of Préhy. These are 25 year-old vines, planted in the classic kimmeridgian soil of the region.

Like all of his wines, vinificatiion is made with natural yeasts, fermented in used casks of various sizes, range from 15 to 100 hectoliters.

This gorgeous 2020 Chablis offers notes of white peach, candied lemon peel and mineral. It has laser beam like acidity, with nuanced mineral notes, that will be sure to come out with further bottle age. It is an ultra-refreshing, delicious and complex Chablis.

This is arguably one of the best values in Chablis right now. Finding something that is Biodynamically farmed of this quality from Chablis is really unheard of.
