Goodfellow Family Cellars Chardonnay, Willamette Valley '17

Goodfellow Family Cellars Chardonnay, Willamette Valley '17

Marcus Goodfellow's wines have been a staple to the shop since day one.  The foundation for this originates out of a bonded friendship between Craig and Marcus, from Craig's time spent living in Oregon. This isn't the only reason. It also helps that Marcus has emerged as one of the best producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the State of Oregon.   Here's your chance to get a taste of what we're talking about! Since 2002, Goodfellow Family Cellars continues to remain a small producer, focusing on old vine plantings in unique and beautiful sites throughout the Willamette Valley.  The wines are all sourced from non-irrigated, sustainably farmed grapes in Oregon's Willamette Valley. There is great pride in the long standing relationships that Marcus has developed with various grower-farmers, and their accumulated knowledge, experience, commitment and sacrifice, is exactly what this winery's backbone is made of.  In the winery, Marcus keeps things simple and traditional.  He truly lets the vineyards speak for themself, as is revealed in its final form. The 2017 "Willamette Valley" Chardonnay captures aromas of stone fruit, bright orange citrus, crème brûlée and hazelnuts, along with light earthy tones. The palate is both rich yet supple, shown with a round, silky mouthfeel. While delightful in its youth, this will continue to evolve well over the next decade.  A very value-friendly cellar companion.   The wine really captures the best of both worlds, so don't overlook this wine simply because it is a Chardonnay from the USA, folks!  This is an excellent wine for those who are both fans of new world and old world wines. You could even treat the wine as a bridge, whether you have been exclusively a new world wine drinker, ready to branch out, or a fan of European wines, looking to give the new world a chance.  Between bright fruit, accents of earth and moderate alcohol, there is a perfect middle ground that is agreeable for palates, far and wide.
