Girolamo Russo “Feudo di Mezzo” '17

Started in 2005, and run by Giuseppe Russo, this truly "garage" winery owns around 15 hectares of vines. He sells off a lot of his young-vine fruit and is an advocate of organic farming. Since 2011 he has produced a wine from Feudo di Mezzo, a one-hectare plot with vines planted between 1920 and 1940. A long maceration, aged in a combination of 1,000-liter cask and barrique. This is just starting to sing, and still has some time in bottle to age. One of my favorites.
