What began as duty became vocation—and today the domaine is very much a family endeavor, with her children Emilio, Theo, and Myrtha deeply involved. Through biodynamic farming (Demeter certified since 2009), massale selection, and a long-running curiosity for alternative vessels (including amphorae), Foradori has become one of the reference-point names for wines that honor Trentino’s soils and its great native grape, Teroldego.

“Lezèr” was first made in 2017, after a severe summer hailstorm damaged a large portion of the Teroldego crop. What could be salvaged became a bright, short-maceration red—“Lezèr” meaning “light,” a nod to its color, body, and easy drinkability. The wine struck such a chord that the family has continued making it every year, keeping the spirit consistent while allowing the details to evolve—blend proportions, the percentage of whole bunches, and the mix of vessels. Even the label shifts slightly from vintage to vintage.

The 2024 “Lezèr” remains Teroldego-led, with small portions of other local red varieties (typically including Schiava and Lagrein, and in some vintages a touch of Merlot). Fruit comes from vineyards around Mezzolombardo and nearby areas, rooted in the sandy, gravelly, alluvial soils that help give the wine its lift and snap. True to its origins, the key is an ultra-short maceration—less than 24 hours—followed by spontaneous fermentation. Aging is brief, about four months, split across a combination of cement, old wood, and terracotta amphorae, which keeps the wine vivid and juicy while adding just enough texture and shape.

Thirst-quenching and delicious, Lezèr 2024 tastes like the modern Dolomites: fresh berries, red plum, a little wild-herb lift, bright, lively acidity, and gentle, easy tannins. We recommend giving it a decant, as well as a light chill, and pair it with pizza, roast chicken, or tomato-driven pastas.
