Famille Paquet Bourgogne Chardonnay '23

Since taking over their family’s 12-hectare property in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, in 2016, the three brothers behind Famille Paquet—Camille, Mathieu, and Jean-Baptiste—have been developing their vineyards into their ideal domaine. Originally founded in 1980 by Jocelyne and Michel Paquet as Domaine des Valanges, the domaine today is focused on practicing organic and biodynamic methods on their 50 plots. They have also carefully expanded their holdings and volume of production, staying focused on how to continue to best express the Mâconnais region through their wines. They now have about 30 hectares across several appellations in the region. It’s rare to find such high-quality Chardonnay from Burgundy that’s also accessible to most wine drinkers.
 
Famille Paquet’s Bourgogne Chardonnay is not an average entry-level Chardonnay. It’s classic and simply lovely, embodying the freshness and minerality that good, young Chardonnay from Burgundy should have. Made in stainless steel, without oak influence, it shows notes of green apple and pear, lemon-lime candy, pineapple, and citrus blossoms, with a touch of brioche and crème fraîche. You can’t go wrong with this wine. Serve it as a classy, crowd-pleasing white wine, as an apéritif wine, or with any seafood or poultry dishes. Still one of the best values in white Burgundy wines around.
