Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Malbec '20

We are tough judges when it comes to the wines of Argentina. Quite frankly, like most countries there is too much industrial, non-descript wine. So when we find a producer like Fabre Montmayou, we are the first to sing its praises. Hervé Joyaux Fabre, born in France to a family of wine négociants, blazed his own path, arriving in Argentina in the 1990’s. Along with his wife Diane he has built a great winery, dedicated to Bordeaux varieties. His Gran Reserva Malbec comes from vines with an average age of over 50 years old. Naturally low-yielding, these are handpicked, fermented at a cool temperature, and aged in French oak for 12 months. This has everything you want from a great Argentinean Malbec, with opulent yet restrained red and black fruit, spice and soft tannins. Great on its own, it naturally pairs with a NY strip steak.
