The Reginato family has been growing grapes in the Uco Valley of Argentina for over 60 years. Luis Reginato saw potential in varietals like Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, since the cool climate allows for full ripening and maturity, creating intense wines with structure and balanced acidity while staying fun to drink. Luis' original source of inspiration comes from mentor and father, José Reginato. Chaman stands out in a Malbec-dominated winemaking country, and that's enough to garner interest, let alone have excellently made wines to back it up.
Luis is also the Director of Viticulture at Catena Zapata and has a hand in his family’s sparkling winery, Reginato. He is constantly fostering relationships with local small growers, to incorporate a greater understanding of both wine and Argentina to bring about a sense of place.
The Petit Verdot shows a softer, elegant expression of the varietal that can often times be quite robust (which is why is mainly plays a supporting role in blends). Chaman's Petit Verdot has silky tannins, coating a mouthfeel of dark, wild berries, wildflowers, a savory meaty and herbal component and delicate earth tones. Full of depth and drinkability.
