Benoit Ente "Cuvée Antichtone" Aligoté '20
Benoît Ente is one of the great names in white Burgundy today. His six-hectare estate is located in Puligny-Montrachet, and alongside wines from his home village he produces small amounts in Chassagne-Montrachet. His first commercially released vintage was in 1999. At the beginning, the wines were quite lavishly oaked, with quite a bit of lees stirring during vinification. The style of wine over the past several years is totally different, more hands off, elegant and pure.
One thing that separates Ente from other producers in the region is his extremely low yields. The wines benefit in complexity, yet don't feel heavy or extracted. No doubt the prices in Burgundy in general are often shocking to those who have been buying in the region for many years. Yet this is the top level, some of the best of the best.
”A very aligoté nose features notes of green apple, pear, spice and ample citrus elements. There is excellent vibrancy to the lightly stony and overtly lemony flavors that conclude in a highly refreshing, clean and agreeably dry finale. This is an excellent example of the genre and worth considering." Burghound
